About Us

We believe in giving back

VB Surf stands at the corner of what it means to be a conscious business. It also stands at the corner of Pacific Avenue and Washington Boulevard. Ever committed to the concept of community, they work with other local businesses and non-profit organizations to be an active contributor to their home of Venice Beach CA, as well as to a greater arena.

As a retail entity, they provide high quality goods curated from local, LA-based, makers and artisans, as well as from global brands. Supporting their mission of responsible, conscious business practices, VB Surf carries eco-friendly brands like Indosole, Earth Technolgies, Rare Form and Odina as well as labels, like Krochet Kids and Esperos, which have give-back components as part of their policies.

From wetsuits to bathing suits, board wax to Go Pros, bike and board rentals, and surf lessons, VB Surf is dedicated to being the local source for all that is surf, sand and sun.

Part of VB Surf’s mission is Giving Back. Partnered with five different non-profit organizations, VB Surf donates a percentage of their bike and board rentals to: the Wounded Warrior Project, Run for Her/Cedars-Sinai, Shriners Hospital for Children, Heal the Bay and Big Life Foundation. When you do business with VB Surf, you are also helping others.

David Boren, Founder of VB Surf

David Boren, founder and owner of VB Surf, came to Venice Beach from the Pacific Northwest in 1987 and has never left. When he first began surfing, lifeguards called him The Rock, because they said we knew you were ok, you were just on the bottom of the ocean floor most of the time, like a rock. Now with over 30 years as a surfer and ocean-lover, he has become a master of tides and swells, teaching countless people how to surf and paddle board. With colleagues in Australia, Hawaii, and Costa Rica, David can also set you on your own sea worthy adventure. Stop in and talk to him.

Lessons

"Our stand up paddle board lessons were awesome! The boards were wide and super stable. It was the first time my girlfriend was ever on a board, she ended up loving it."

Bike Rental

"We rented these really cool military bikes and wherever we went, people kept taking pictures of us. Plus, we learned that part of the rental fee went directly to a non-profit. We were stoked! "

Clothing

"I went to VB Surf needing a new bathing suit and left with an awesome bikini and a big floppy hat. They’ve got stuff in there I didn’t expect. I am so going back!"
